its spiral stone stair and main reception room - open to the public. Art

40m : excavations of the largest Roman Town of the region, now in the
shadow of a beautifully intact medieval town,
itself dominated by a grand cathedral with famous carved choir stalls
and organ from the 16th C, all set into the mountains.
Close to the basilica of Saint-Just and the underground caves of Gargas.
Festival
of music in the summer.
CAZERES
20 minutes: Saturday Market, restaurants, fine bridge over the Garonne.
Centre for water sports on the river : hire of canoes and kayaks.

LIZIER
30m : Another quiet and beautiful medieval town with a museum in an old
Bishops Palace and fine cathedral and cloister.
Springtime music festival.
SKI-ING
Le Mourtis : 30m : Small ski station with chair lift also in the summer.
Luchon, Superbagnères - Télécabine all year from
the town to the ski station at 1800M - from there superb views
and walks in the summer months, and numerous chair lifts and ski pulls
in the winter.
